“Through practice, I’ve come to see that the deepest source of my misery is not wanting things to be the way they are. Not wanting myself to be the way I am. Not wanting the world to be the way it is. Not wanting others to be the way they are. Whenever I’m suffering, I find this war with reality to be at the heart of the problem.” ~ Stephen Cope
Instant peace and calmness came over me while I practiced reciting this mantra to myself:
“There is no need to struggle.”
Ask yourself right now, “Can I live with what life is offering me?”
When we find neutrality in our mind, we let go of judgment about what is happening. We no longer fight against the now. Instead, we save our strength and behave with compassion towards those people and circumstances we cannot control. In that space without struggle we remember, “We are all One.” Fighting against another is really punishing ourselves.
Take 10 minutes to journal:
1. What are the biggest sources of stress in your life right now?
2. How do they affect you?
3. What costs do you pay for struggling against them?
You have a choice to live from equanimity. Say to yourself “there is no need to struggle.” Love yourself, love your day, love your life!
